Opportunity Snapshot
This newly created role offers you the opportunity to "own" the decision support function and act as a strategic business partner to senior leaders of both domestic and international business areas. We have structured this role to ensure you will focus on financial planning and analysis; in fact, you will report directly to the CEO although you will work closely with the CFO and Business Leaders of our US Domestic and International divisions. You'll be able to make a broad impact, providing analyses and recommendations around a wide variety of areas, from product performance to inventory management to cost controls. In addition you'll enjoy the stability and resources of $9 billion G4S, the world's largest international security solutions group.
To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have at least three years of experience in a financial capacity with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, and a working knowledge of financial analysis, business analytics and general accounting. You also will need familiarity with operations; a background in manufacturing and/or inventory cost planning would be a plus. We're looking for a professional with a strong business mind and a proven ability to extract data from many sources and translate this data into useful information.
Justice Services, Inc. (JSI), a division of G4S, has hundreds of contracts with various jurisdictions within the US as well as with international partners. G4S operates in over 110 countries with more than 585,000 employees. Our values focus on Best People -- we always take care to employ the best people, develop their competence, provide opportunity and inspire them to live our values.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
- A four-year college degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance; a master's degree or CPA is a plus.
- Experience with P&L, treasury support and cash flow analysis.
- Broad exposure to reviewing business plan and strategy input.
- Excellent problem diagnosis and analytical skills.
- Strong business acumen with strategic focus.
- Proficiency with MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas and macros) and MS Access (creating, editing and running databases).
- Experience with ERP accounting software (we use Solomon, now MS Dynamics).
- Excellent communication skills, verbally, in writing, and in presenting information.
- The ability to:
- Work both as an independent contributor and as a strong team player.
- Interface with department heads, senior leaders, and finance team.
- Work in and adapt to a changing environment.
- Be adaptable and flexible while responding to deadlines on assignments and workflow fluctuations.
What's in It for You
Strategic impact -- this is a true FP&A role and you will ensure our leadership has the information and insights they need to create success. Until now these analyses have resided in several areas, so you will help create a centralized decision support function.
Diverse, meaningful work -- you'll be involved in a wide variety of activities, from creating and generating regular reports to driving special projects. Your contributions will support JSI's mission of helping government agencies in the US and abroad ensure safe and secure communities.
Career development -- on a regular basis you'll interact with bright, experienced people leading multi-million dollar business units and functional areas. You will acquire a "bird's eye view" of our operations, and your success in this role could set you up to pursue promotional opportunities within our organization. Because we are global, you may have opportunities to travel to or work in other parts of the world.
Great environment -- we've created a collegial and collaborative environment in which employee input is welcome. In fact, providing insights and ideas is a key part of this role's mission.
Excellent compensation -- we offer competitive salaries, a bonus incentive program and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid vacation, holiday and sick time, medical, flexible spending plan, dental and 401(k) matching benefits.
More About Your Role
If you're a good fit for this position, you already know most of what this job entails. However, to be sure we're providing a complete picture, here are some details.
You will support activities including financial and management reporting and analysis, monthly reporting (we use FRx) on planned/forecasted performance vs. actual performance and assisting with annual budgeting and forecasting. In addition you will provide analytical support on new initiatives and special projects. In all your activities we'll expect you to develop and leverage a working knowledge of the operations of the various departments and functions. You'll act as a liaison between the finance department (where most of the data resides) and the various business leaders.
We already have in mind a number of areas where you'll be able to provide analytical insights -- including new sales, pricing and pricing reviews -- but we'll also look to you to suggest areas in which a stronger understanding will further our business objectives. Here are some other examples:
- We have a new monitoring product on the market that soon will replace an older product. You might provide information regarding the optimal time to make this replacement, taking into account such things as depreciation. In addition you may determine what it will cost to implement the replacement, including when and where we will bear the expenses.
- You may do research and analysis regarding cost areas, such as inventory or purchase price variances, and recommend ways we can trim those costs by doing business a little differently.
- The data you'll work with resides in multiple sites and on a variety of platforms (Solomon, Access, MISys, proprietary programs, the Internet, and others), and you may make recommendations around bringing this data into a single location and enhancing information flow.
Keys to Success
You will be the sole member of the decision support team and, while outstanding analytical skills are essential for this role, you also will need professional maturity and interpersonal skills to succeed. You'll have support from senior leaders, of course, but we'll look to you to be proactive about getting the data you need, working around roadblocks that may arise, and influencing others. To excel in this role you will keep a constant eye out for opportunities to improve processes and control costs.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
