Fleet Manager
DC - Washington
Opportunity Overview
If you have a knack for analyzing logistics data and driving solutions, this is your opportunity to be a pivotal ground floor member of the G4S team as we embark on an exciting new contract with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This is a key contract and we anticipate this to be a transformational force in our continued growth. And we're hiring high-impact players with an eye on the future that can play a key role in our continued success.
As Fleet Manager, your mission is to expertly manage a fleet of 500 general purpose vehicles, analyzing vehicle utilization data and driving innovation to make the fleet the best in its class, including ways to drive down both vehicle cost and usage. Serving as the day-to-day liaison between field staff and G4S management, you will spearhead all aspects of fleet management, ranging from leasing and vehicle repair/maintenance to accident/insurance administration, alternative fuel program development, budget planning and compliance with key regulatory agencies.
To be a good fit for this opportunity you will obviously bring hands-on expertise in fleet management, but you will also showcase your interpersonal finesse as you build collaborative partnerships with the field staff to maximize the use of the fleet. We will also look to you to come in with a fresh set of eyes and continually drive improvements and best practices that will allow us to meet and exceed the growth objectives of this critical contract.
You will be working for G4S and enjoy the stability and resources of a $9 billion company, the world's leading international security solutions group, operating in over 110 countries with more than 585,000 employees. Our values focus on Best People -- we always take care to employ the best people, develop their competence, provide opportunity and inspire them to live our values.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you must have:
- US citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- 5+ years of progressive fleet management/maintenance experience including expertise in:
- Vehicle lease program and support functions.
- Analysis of vehicle utilization & operational efficiency.
- Management of fuel program.
- Knowledge of related cost accounting, budget planning & development.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including AQMD, EPA, DOT.
- Outstanding communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders; must be a strong team player who can also work independently as needed.
- Strong personal drive, a positive attitude, and a history of following through and delivering on commitments.
- Computer proficiency in a Microsoft Office suite environment, including Excel & Word.
Our contract with DHS ICE requires that we conduct extensive "suitability" background checks, and they will conduct their own check of all candidates' suitability for entry on duty. To pass both checks, you will need, at minimum:
- A clean credit history and good current credit standing.
- A criminal record clear of felonies or misdemeanors of a moral or egregious nature.
- A clean driving record.
- A negative result on an initial drug screen and subsequent random drug tests.
With our technical and geographical infrastructure, along with proven success on our current ICE contract, we are positioned extremely well to be awarded and exceed the performance expectations of the Intensive Supervision and Appearance Program (ISAP II) contract scheduled to be awarded on July 20th, 2009. We will look to you to begin work with G4S on the ISAP II contract beginning August 3rd, 2009 and join our week-long training program in Dallas, Texas. You will play a key role in our company's expansion as a world-class government services provider.
What's in It for You
- Discernible impact -- you'll have a clean slate to not only optimize our fleet environment (and do your part in reducing the growing carbon footprint) but you'll also have the opportunity to refine and improve these processes as we go along.
- Platform for career growth -- we are projecting significant growth in the new contract; for example, the plans currently call for opening more than ten new offices next year alone. Our dynamic work environment positions learning in the forefront and there will be opportunities for higher level assignments, perhaps moving up to an Operations role, depending on your ambition and aptitude. Our strong commitment to training and employee development includes: 1) initial training consisting of both informative and required DHS/ICE training; and 2) ongoing training using both face-to-face and online learning systems.
- Challenge & variety -- there's nothing like a challenge to keep you on your toes and each day will bring an exciting stream of unique challenges, allowing you to flex your mental agility and drive to results.
- Diverse, meaningful work -- the services you provide will represent an alternative to detention for program participants, and support ICE's mission of upholding US law while respecting participants' rights.
- Leveraging technology to create a great work environment -- while G4S is a security solutions company, technology is a core part of those solutions. We also take a proactive approach to using technology to the best advantage for our employees as well as our customers.
- Excellent compensation -- we offer competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package for our full-time employees, including paid vacation, holiday and sick time, medical, flexible spending plan, dental and 401(k) matching benefits.
